Milwaukee Heat Guns are well known among
stampers as the best heat gun available. The first time I used a Milwaukee I was
amazed at the difference. The embossing powder melts faster and more evenly than any
other heat gun I have tried. My old heat gun just sits collecting dust now because
the difference is that dramatic. We keep the Milwaukee Model 1400 Heat Gun in
stock.

Thick Embossing Powder
The Thick Super Gloss Embossing powder is used as a coating.
You can use a clear embossing ink pad and stamp all over your card or pin and then
sprinkle this embossing powder, heat and you end up with a thick clear glossy coating.
This embossing powder is also fun to use in making pins as
shown below:

Instructions for pin:
Take a 1.5" circle of cardboard and swipe the cardboard
randomly with a pink pigment ink pad, a purple one and a gold ink pad. Make
sure to also go around the edge of the piece of cardboard.
Sprinkle the pin with Thick Super Gloss Embossing powder.
(Actually I put the embossing powder in a plastic container and dip the pin in.)
Heat the embossing powder until it is completely melted and
don't forget to heat the edges of the pin. Be sure to put the pin on a piece of
aluminum foil or a sheet of glossy cardstock or something that can stand the heat but that
the embossing powder won't stick to real well. This embossing powder gets very hot
so don't pick up the pin or touch it for about 20 seconds after heating. The pin should
now look very bumpy and not coated evenly.
Swipe the pin with the 3 ink pads again randomly and don't worry
about getting the same color in the same place that you did last time. The colors
all swirl together anyway. Dip the pin in the embossing powder and heat.
Repeat step 4 one more time. You have now inked and
embossed a total of 3 times. Your pin should be looking nice and smoothly coated by
now and not bumpy any more.
Ink a small stamp such as the butterfly
stamp with gold pigment ink and set aside.
Now swipe the pin one last time with 3 different ink pads, dip
in the embossing powder and heat. When the embossing powder is completely melted and
nice and hot set down your heat gun and pick up your inked up stamp. Now press your
stamp into the hot embossing powder (you have to work pretty quickly so the embossing
powder doesn't start to cool before you stamp.) Leave the stamp sitting in the
hot embossing powder for about 20 seconds. By now the embossing powder is cool and
you can remove your stamp. You have a wonderful 3-D effect where you stamped your
image.
Apply a pin back or magnet to the back of your pin and your are
finished.
